9 months!

Charlie is CRAWLING! He has been crawling for maybe a week. He also has a top front tooth coming through -- looks like it's his top right tooth. He has been trying to pull himself up too. He is so curious and is starting to get into everything. We have 2 baby gates up in the living room and he hasn't figured out how to bust through them yet.

We went to his 9 month check up today. It was our first time with the new doctor -- Dr. Lacey. We so loved Dr. Sanford in Alabama and I was hoping that we could find a new doctor who would be kind to Charlie and would be personable with us. Dr. Lacey laughed at Charlie and was so sweet to him. Yay. Charlie is 20 pounds even. He is 28.5 inches long. He is in the 60th percentile for his heighth. He is a growing boy.

Charlie has been spitting his food all over the place when he eats. He was doing this a few months ago and I put a little dab of lemon on my finger and put it to his lips. The shock stopped the spitting. Well, that doesn't work anymore. I was so frustrated with him yesterday. I held his hand and tried to tell him that I didn't like him spitting and refusing to swallow his food. Charlie had no idea what I meant or that I was upset with him. Today, I picked up a spoon and tapped it on the stove. The sound distracted him from spitting and he stopped. He did it for just a minute at dinner and I had a wooden spoon that I tapped on the table and he quit.

It is a battle to change his diaper. Charlie wants to waller and explore while you are trying to change his diaper.

He started sleeping through the night again about 2 weeks ago. I ended up turning off the monitors, closing his door and our door. I can hear him when he really wails -- but anything else, I don't hear. He's been sleeping til 8 a.m. and having 2 naps during the day. His afternoon nap is always longer than his morning nap. Sometimes, he'll take a 2 hour afternoon nap.

This week, he has been EXTREMELY clingy. He usually becomes pretty clingy when a tooth is coming through. He screams if he's left alone for longer than a few minutes (unless I can distract him with Sesame Street!).

Charlie wants to stand up all the time. So much that it might be starting to be a bit of an obsession. Haha. His little knees are red from crawling so I've been trying to keep him in long pants.

He's babbling more now. Ba-bababa and dadadada. No mamamaa yet. :(

He still loves his pacifier. It might be his favorite toy. Well, besides his yellow duck!
